Dissertation
My undergraduate dissertation explored the relationship between students' experiences and their 'sense of place' at the university.
I discovered that halls expericnes, relationships with academic staff and attendance at major social events are linked to a stronger 'sense of place' at the university.
Additionally, I noted a distinct difference between students' sense of belonging within their academic departments and the broader university community, suggesting a need for more strategic approaches to central community initiatives.
I also found that there was a relationship between students' 'sense of place', philathropic desires and the National Student Survey. Whilst my research only identified significant correlations, it still raises questions to the importance of 'sense of place' planning when developing philathropy and student strategy.
